When did you work at Francis Holland School?
1974 - 2017
How are you currently involved with FHS?
Assist with increasing the numbers of Old Girls on the alumni database. Assist with alumni events. A member of the Quondam committee.
What is your fondest memory from your time at FHS?
I have many fond memories! But the main one is when the Under 13 netball team became Middlesex Champions in 1995. Their commitment and perseverance were incredible.
Who, among your colleagues, was the most influential?
Miss Sifleet. She had such high standards and was extremely organised and a committed Deputy Head.
How, and why, did you choose your profession?
Because I loved my subject, Physical Education, so much. I hope I have passed on some of the passion to many Polished Corners whilst encouraging everyone to ‘Take one more step’.
What advice would you give to FHS alumni/pupils?
A quote from Michael Phelps, an Olympic swimmer, sums it up: "You dream. You plan. You reach. There will be obstacles there will be doubters. There will be mistakes. But with hard work, with belief, with confidence and trust in yourself and those around you, there are no limits." And of course, always be kind.
Are you still in touch with any other FHS alumni?
Yes. I am still in touch, and see, teachers from the 70s through to the present. I am also in contact with quite a few pupils, mainly from the 80s and 90s.
