Francis Holland School has a fantastic reputation in supporting students both academically and pastorally, as we hope you will have experienced firsthand in your time here. We wish to further enhance our provision by developing a mentoring scheme for our new LVI students, in order to support their transition from Year 11 in their current school to the Sixth Form here at FHS.
The thinking behind this initiative is that we feel some students might greatly benefit from your former experience at FHS, as well as your expertise and professionalism, as some of our new students come from a variety of cultural and socioeconomical backgrounds. It is vital we ensure that all students have the best possible start in the Sixth Form. Our hope is that the new mentorship initiative will provide focus and context to the new girls’ studies by enhancing their learning and developing their aptitude through academic achievement, career development and education.
By offering a guiding hand, we believe that you could make a real difference to another Francis Holland girl’s future and in return, we hope you will find it a fulfilling and rewarding experience reconnecting with us. As a mentor you would become a role model, career champion, coach or guide and aim to take personal interest in the growth and development of your mentee over the course of a year.
We are looking for 12 alumni mentors who would be committed to mentoring the LVI students for whom we feel would most benefit from your guidance.
The programme commences in September 2020 and would match LVI students with each volunteer adult mentor. We anticipate the time commitment would work out to be approximately 30 minutes a week for the first month and then 30 minutes every fortnight.
As a first stage we would like you to invite you to register your interest by emailing
