FHS alumnae were the winners of the Marylebone Rotary Club's annual literary and artistic competition and were aged 10-11 at the time. The article gives a little glimpse into life at FHS during the late 1960s. Said judge Miss Foyle (of the book chain), "It must be a good school - you make the children so interesting and bring out it all the imagination in them."

We got in touch with Angela Macguire, who replied with this email: "What fun that article was found. There are many poems you will find in old magazines including one about Litter that was recently copied by a newer Polished Corner almost word for word, intelligence and plagiarism may sometimes go hand in hand! Our year group were lucky enough to be one of those who were able to go to Regent’s Park after school and see The Rolling Stones filming, and you will also find a photograph in the Marylebone Mercury of FHS on a visit to Cheddar Gorge from Paddington Station. We had the most amazing opportunities including seeing Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo and finding adders and fossils in Yorkshire. I arranged a lovely uncurricular visit to the Wellcome Collection as a treat, and managed to escape a double maths lesson by insisting that the school hamster had to go the vet as it had had a nasty fall – of course accompanied by another form member. Just a bit of fun for you to know about. Would love to be in touch with Gauri Hoon and Clare Dawson."
