Class of 2017 alumna Ruby MacGregor travelled to Vietnam with the Quondam Travel Scholarship

I'm currently in my final year at UCL studying Molecular Biology. The Quondam Travel Scholarship seemed the perfect way to be able to do something incredible both for others and for myself.

I decided to travel to Vietnam because it's a country still reeling from the effects of the recent war, and so in desperate need of volunteers in many areas. I felt it was the program that would suit me best, and would allow me to make the biggest positive impact I could. Vietnam is a beautiful country and culture (and incredible food!)

I spent two weeks in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, teaching kindergarten children (aged 2-5). I ended up doing a combination of teaching and caring, as is standard for most teachers in Vietnam.

I was only in Vietnam for two weeks – which gave me one weekend off from volunteering to travel!
My friend Brooke and I travelled to the island of Phú Quốc, off the southern tip of Vietnam.
