On Friday evening, former pupils, former staff and current staff came together to celebrate the impressive 29 years’ of outstanding teaching service from Former Head of Fifth Form and Head of the French bilingual section, Marjorie Gustave.
In the School Hall - packed with over 70 guests - Marjorie, accompanied by husband Adrian, reunited with her guests (including Former Headmistress Pamela Parsonson), some of whom had flown in from France, and for many others, the distance of time had also lapsed.
Followed by a speech from Headmaster Charles Fillingham, Marjorie addressed her audience, fondly recounting stories from FHS: school trips (with much hilarity!), playing the violin in school concerts, and bestowing much gratitude to those with whom Marjorie has worked since she began her career at FHS in 1991. Said Marjorie, “It really was a privilege to teach at Francis Holland because I taught some very fine young ladies, some of whom are present this evening, and which means so much to me.”
The evening was filled with laughter, warmth, conviviality, and joy: Marjorie was a beloved and much-admired member of staff. Thank you to all involved in ensuring Marjorie’s party was such a success.
