We revelled in celebrating the numerous spectacular achievements of the girls of all ages over the past academic year in a ceremony made all the more poignant due to parents and guests not having been able to attend Prize-Giving since 2019 due to the pandemic. Prizes awarded include the Quondam Writing Competition to winners Freya Sabharwal and Sonal Korlipara.
The ceremony began with a vibrant Samba band performance and some excellent piano solos as we welcomed in our guests, before an uplifting rendition of Vivaldi’s Gloria in excelsis Deo by by all choirs. We were then universally entertained by a very unique headmaster’s address by Mr Fillingham in the form of FHS Mastermind, in which Amber in the Lower Sixth quizzed him on just a few of his iconic moments during his nearly seven years at FHS. Mr Fillingham was even lucky enough to have his very own personal make up team who took to the stage to ensure he was camera ready…!
We then enjoyed hearing about the girls’ abundant achievements over the course of the academic year before they were welcomed year by year to receive their prizes from Mr Fillingham and their Heads of Year. We also enjoyed fantastic musical and dramatic entertainment including Olivia in Lower Sixth’s breath-taking operatic performance of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, a hilarious excerpt from the lower school play The Wardrobe, and Senior Chamber Choir performing The Bluebird beautifully.
The ceremony concluded with touching speeches from our now former Head Girl Sofia as she handed over her Headship to our 2022-23 Head Girl Saskia, who described her excitement and gratitude for having been chosen for her role next year, before Mr Fillingham awarded the House Cup to an ecstatic Saturn!
Finally, Mr Fillingham gave his very last address as Headmaster of FHS Regent’s Park, in which he praised the finest school in London and described his enjoyment of his time here eloquently. We will miss him hugely but know he will do an amazing job at his new School and we look forward to welcoming our new Headmistress, Mrs Katharine Woodcock, in September.
Thank you so much to all who came and made Friday afternoon such a wonderful success and we wish you all a happy, successful and productive Summer Holiday.
