This year, the concert took place in St Cyprian’s Church for the first time, and it did not disappoint! The church was transformed, with round tables adorned with beautiful decorations, perfect mood lighting and fabulous food and drink all contributing to an atmosphere of sophisticated and enigmatic glamour.
We were treated to stunning vocal, strings and percussion performances from girls in all year groups, with the Jazz Club inspired layout rendering the audience truly immersed in and mesmerised by the music.
There were too many highlights of the concert to mention, but some particularly memorable moments were exquisite renditions of Eva Cassidy’s Autumn Leaves and Etta James’s At Last by Ella and Tati in the Upper Fifth and the Junior Chamber Choir’s performance of Lullaby of Birdland.
The grand finale of the evening was a sensational performance of Marvin Gaye’s Ain’t No Mountain High Enough by Amber and Olivia in the Upper Sixth (complete with sunglasses and feather boas), which had the audience on their feet from start to finish.
Thank you so much to the Music Department, our wonderful comperes and everyone else involved in creating this magical evening. Bring on next year!
