Organised by More House School, this fundraising event saw students, female Heads and senior leaders go head-to-head on the football pitch to raise funds for Play it Forward, a Zambian-based charity which provides opportunities for young people through education and health activities. Flying the football flag for FHS on Friday was our Headmistress, Mrs Woodcock, and our intrepid KS3 team of footie-enthusiasts.
After months of hard work, our KS3 team and Team Amaka (Mrs Woodcock’s squad) each took to the pitch for their highly-anticipated matches. Our KS3 girls were first up with a closely-fought fixture against St Teresa’s School. Despite tough competition, Team FHS smashed the game with a 3-2 win. The atmosphere at Rosslyn Park reached fever-pitch when the time came for the Heads and senior leaders’ game. Although a couple of goals were conceded early on, Team Amaka rallied in the latter half of the game and emerged victorious with a staggering 6-2 win! Well done Team FHS and Team Amaka for two outstanding victories on the pitch.
Strictly Headers has raised over £3,500 thus far, all of which will go to supporting young Zambians on and off the pitch as Play it Forward continues in their mission to use sport for development to achieve sustainable social change. We would like to say a huge thank you to all who have supported Mrs Woodcock and Team FHS during the lead-up to this fantastic fundraising event, either through donating funds, old football kit, or by participating in our charity football mufti day.
