The exhibition provided a glimpse of the creative happenings from our vibrant art studios. Our young artists’ ideas have been developed through experimenting with materials and processes, making mistakes, trying again, adjusting, modifying, and sometimes turning accidents into new artwork. Our young artists learn to observe, reflect, refine, and respond. Art encourages deep engagement; practically and intellectually.

Our sixteen A level artists have been a powerful and inspiring force in the studios this year and we are so proud that eight of our artists are starting art school in September at schools including Kingston, Central St Martin’s, Manchester and Falmouth. This exhibition of their work demonstrates numerous themes of investigation. Thoughts on landscape and nature, animals and humans, form and space are communicated through film, animation, sculpture, drawing, painting and print. Our assuming art department truly is a creative TARDIS!

This exhibition is a celebration of our young artists’ efforts, and we are delighted to share it all with you. Congratulations to all, our artists have done us proud. Additionally, this exhibition is an opportunity to celebrate the Art Department staff whose fantastic teaching, unlimited support and encouragement have helped these girls to thrive creatively. Thank you to Helen Gardner, Alice Horn, Anastasia Hirons, Jane Orr and Jeanine Wollard.
