Festivities began with an unforgettable morning assembly, in which we looked back over the amazing history of FHS from 1878-2023 (watch the full video below!), and reflected on how our values of Knowledge, Compassion, Perseverance and Spirit have endured throughout.

We also looked back over the many unique traditions, quirks and curiosities which we have observed over 145 years of Francis Holland, Regent’s Park, including a unique ‘torch race’ which involved relay races with a lit torch (!) finishing with the Head Girl who would say ‘this lantern, now handed to me, will I faithfully guard’, before the school community singing the school hymn in darkness!

Assembly concluded with our indefatigable catering team bringing out a glorious 145th Birthday cake for a tradition that we still follow to this day – the cutting of the School Birthday Cake by the oldest and youngest pupil in the school. We all left the Ivor place Hall feeling proud to be a part of the FHS Community, and looking forward to a fun-filled day of celebrations ahead.

All staff and students enjoyed delicious School Birthday Cupcakes at breaktime, and are taking part in our annual *145th School Birthday Edition* Sponsored Walk in Regent’s Park this afternoon. Thank you so much to all who have donated so far – we are absolutely delighted to have surpassed our target of raising £20,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. We are still welcoming donations here, and girls are being rewarded for their fundraising efforts with another Mufti Day next Friday!
